Which one is right for you, pine pollen tincture vs powder?
Pine pollen is best known for its hormone supporting effects. For this reason, men especially love it, although its great for women too.
And there are some pretty big differences between the pine pollen powder and the pine pollen tincture forms which are discussed below. Although the extract type will result in different qualities for many herbs, here the difference is quite pronounced.
Quick Recap of the Benefits of Pine Pollen Powder
As a powder you’re getting all the nutrition that pine pollen provides. This includes many vitamins, minerals, amino acids, antioxidants, and other nutrients within (like resveratrol, SOD, MSM, etc.), making it, as my brother likes to call it, “Nature’s Multivitamin”.
In this form pine pollen can really be thought of as a food. That’s why we have the Megadose version in which you can take several tablespoons per day. In China this is a common practice and they even use it to add to flours for baking.
The thing about the powder is that the phytosterols or androgens, meaning the testosterone, DHEA and other hormones pine pollen contains, are said to be destroyed in the human digestive tract. Still the hormonal benefits do occur with the pine pollen powder. The success of our male clients with the “Morning Wood Test” and at much else attests to this working…though, of course, hormones aren’t the only factor in this either.
Still the powder is more modulating of the hormones. Plus, it appears to help in combating xeno-estrogens. In this form there is almost no chance it could increase your hormones to unsafe levels. It is fine to take every single day for years if you wanted. No cycling is needed.
It is safe for women and children. And it’s great even pregnant or breastfeeding women as the original pine pollen baby can tell you. (After all the importance of good nutrition is even more important at these stages.)
Quick Recap of the Benefits of Pine Pollen Tincture
When you tincture pine pollen you have something quite different. The alcohol draws out the phyto-androgens, concentrating them. Other components will come along too, but not everything that is found in the powder.
By squirting the alcohol tincture in your mouth, and holding it under your tongue, the hormones can immediately enter your blood stream. No digestive tract to get past, thus they’re available right away in your system.
With the tincture, it is better to think of this as BOOSTING your hormones. And on that note this could likely be overdone. Its still nothing like shooting up with steroids, but if a person downed a bottle of tincture it would probably have some negative side effects.
For this reason, pine pollen tinctures are generally only recommended for men over the age of 30. Anyone younger than that should be just fine hormonally although this day and age with all the environmental pollutants, I can’t say that’s necessarily the case. For instance even at 29, I have used pine pollen tinctures off and on over the past couple of years. But anyone under 20 definitely should avoid them. That means no children at all.
Although they’re not generally recommended for women, a few women have used pine pollen tinctures and reported great benefit. You’ll have to make the choice for yourself. Definitely not for pregnant or lactating mothers. And in these cases it is typically 1 to 5 DROPS of the tincture.
In addition, it is best to cycle pine pollen tincture. Some people like to take it four or five days a week while taking a break the rest. Others will take it for a month then give it a week off. Or just a random approach, taking it every once in awhile. Any of these options and many others are fine. It’s just not something you want to be on forever.
Also, some people are sensitive to alcohol. A way to get around this, while still getting the tincture benefits, is to squirt it into a very hot liquid. The alcohol has a lower boiling point than water so it will evaporate while leaving behind the components.
Pine Pollen Tincture vs Powder…Why Not Combine?
The tincture boosts hormones. The powder modulates them. What follows it a bit of a theory though we’ve heard favorable results from customers already. By taking the two together you have the boosting effects, but also with all the other nutrition and the intelligence of the pine pollen you get in the powder which along with that.
Overall, this seems to give more holistic results while achieving the great hormonal benefits many men describe. For this reason, we’ve put together a special Men’s Hormone Package which includes both, and the addition of nettle root.
If you have any other questions be sure to ask below.
(There is another method that we’ve experimented with. In a tincture after the alcohol has drawn out the components for a couple weeks, the powder that is left is usually discarded. But using a Spagyric or alchemical process this powder can still be used through calcining it then being added back in. This results in the whole plant being available in a tinctured form, called a Spagyric tincture. While we don’t have this commercially available with pine pollen yet, our Nettle Root Tinctures and Ashwagandha Tinctures are both spagyrically prepared.)
So it is best not to think in terms of pine pollen tincture vs powder. It is better instead to see each as having valuable, somewhat different benefits.

Ok so I think i had that issue that tim ferris had…I go hiking on a weekly basis in the hollywood hills here in los angeles and I just got back and had to share. For the first time since I have been hiking there, 3 different dogs came up to me and started sniffing me! I’m assuming it’s good as hopefully tonight the same thing happens with the females in a social setting :) thanks again for putting out a great product gentlemen at LostEmpireHerbs!!

Thank you so much for the order of Pine Pollen powder. By far the best quality I have found, and yes, I have noticed an excellent “morning wood” effect. Highly recommend!
BTW, I have been taking the pine pollen powder by doing the following: mixing 16 ounces of mineral water, 1 table spoon of pine pollen powder, 1 table spoon of organic apple-cider vinegar, 1 teaspoon of liquid chlorophyll, 1 teaspoon of L-Arginine (2.5 g.), and a small bit of stevia. I take this formula once in the morning before work and then in late afternoon prior to exercise workout. So far, great results with this combination.
Thanks again!

Glad to hear it Louis. Make sure to leave a review on the pine pollen page if you would please. Your recipe sounds great, I’ll have to try it out myself…
Ray says
Hi there. The instructions on the tincture state a dropper full. However when you squeeze the top, only half of the dropper fills up.
Logan Christopher says
Yes, only half the dropper fills but that is considered a full dropper since that is as full as it gets.
Sahin says
Hi,
i want to cycle pinepollen powder, tincture and nettle root al together. what is the most simpel way to cylcing it ?
thanks,
cheers
Sahin
Logan Christopher says
Take everything for a month than stop for two to four weeks then start again.
Jep says
When talking about the morning wood test is this dosing with the tincture or the powder?
Thanks!
Logan Christopher says
Specifically with the powder, though the tincture works for it too.
Peggy says
I am interested in this product. i am menopausal and I take herbs to mitigate the hot flashes, night sweats, etc. Do you recommend the powder or the tincture for someone such as myself? I am fit & active & like to take good care of myself.
Logan Christopher says
Hi Peggy. We’ve received a few comments from customers that the pine pollen powder helped their hot flashes so I would recommend starting there. Generally we don’t recommend the tincture for women but their have been exceptions.

Here is my protocol for a SuperT-booster:
Upon waking, take at least 5-6 eye droppers of pine pollen tincture and 1-2 spoonfuls of pine pollen. Commence with a rigorous workout, preferably lower body so the groin area gets lots of movement and fresh oxygen. After workout, eat a high protein, low estrogenic breakfast and another tablespoonful of pine pollen. Take a shower and make sure at least the final 10 mins are in cold water – with the cold water directly on testicles.
This method works great for me and others to whom I have recommended it.Your T levels will be maxed out throughout the day.
admin says
Wow Alan. Sounds intense and awesome. Definitely going to have to try that. Just for clarity you’re doing 5-6 full droppers not drops right? And the 1-2 spoonfuls, are those tablespoons?
Alan says
Yes – that is full droppers and yes, tablespoons so as far as the pine pollen powder, it works out to about 10-11 gms/day. I cycle this for about 10 days on and the 10 days off. During the “off days” I take 2400 mg of 1:200 tongkat ali + 1800 mg of high pot. nettle extract and 1800 mg of fenugreek. Most guys will shun away from the ice cold showers and it does take some getting used to, but now my body seems to crave the T-spike I get from it. It is the icing on the cake !
Ryan says
Alan, thanks for this protocol! Question, how long have you been doing this protocol and does the pine pollen still have the same potency when you hop back on it? Thanks again, can’t wait to try this.
Adam says
I would avoid the fenugreek if you have any signs of decreased libido, brain fog or cold genitals. Fenugreek is a documented 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor and can rob sensitive individuals of necessary DHT levels to preserve sex drive and androgen profiles. I have been injured in this manner from fenugreek in the past and it took about eight full months to recover. The side effects were horrendous.
Your DHT levels are crucial to giving sexual potency to testosterone. DHT is not the devil it has been made out to be, as the modern research is showing.
Eric says
Hey Alan, thanks for the info. May I ask your age?
Alan says
A very fit 59….
Ht 6 4
weight 210
same as I was at age 30
John says
Love the men’s hormone package! 2 questions, 1) is the tincture in a glass bottle and 2) should we also cycle the Nettle root. Your thoughts?
Thanks!!
admin says
John, yes its in glass. As for cycling nettle root I’ve seen some people say yes and others say no. I’m going to go with it is safe for long term usage, as the studies regarding BPH had people on it for 3 to 12 months long.
Rad says
Is there a way to get the alcohol out of the tincture. I’m a recovering alcoholic and don’t want to trigger a relapse. Thanks
Logan Christopher says
Rad, you can squirt the tincture into hot tea or another hot beverage. Alcohol has a lower boiling point than water so if you let it sit for a minute or two, the alcohol will evaporate and the constituents will remain.
Bob Anderson says
You didn’t mention here, as you did in another writing, that holding the powder in your mouth for a few minutes allows the phytochems to absorb sublingually, which should give more benefits than simply swallowing it right away. I find that it does help. Thanks!
Logan Christopher says
Yes, Bob I did forget to mention that. Glad it works for you.
Bob Anderson says
I would also add, for anyone wanting to try this, that the first couple of times, the pine flavor gets pretty intense (almost turpentine-y) but that you get accustomed to it fairly quickly and it doesn’t seem that strong after a while so don’t give up because of the strong flavor!
Ken says
Bob’s caveat is a good one, as the powder sublingually takes quite an adjustment. I might add one more caution and that is to be sure one’s mouth is moistened before ingesting. The powder is quite light and fluffy, and upon first taste one could tend to cough whereupon the powder is further drawn both up into the nasal passage and into the respiratory system. So be sure to take a sip of water before taking the pollen right off a spoon.
admin says
Good point Ken. Definitely coughing up the powder is not the best way to do it.
Zane says
While I agree that inhaling it is not the best way to take the pollen, I would imagine that it absorbs straight into the blood stream too. :p
Rocky says
Does anyone know of a source for this outside of CHINA? If not there is a huge amount of pine pollen in Tennessee just begging to be harvested.
