We Americans are leaders in the world…
One of the many things we lead in is obesity!
A CDC report released this year shows that in 2017-2018 the adult obesity rate is a whopping 42.4.%. [1]
That is almost every other person.
There is something very wrong with this. If the trendline continues it will be 50% by 2030.
I know we’re not supposed to fat shame, but obesity is not good for you health. That’s a fact and if you are offending by facts, well that’s on you not me.
Overweight and obesity were associated with 18.2% of ALL deaths in the US from 1986 to 2006. That’s a pretty old stat so it’s likely quite a bit higher now. [2]
I’m worried about what isn’t included in this report…children and teenagers. Looking at that trend may be even more frightening as early obesity is associated with mortality then and later. [3]
Yes, there is an epidemic going on right now in the USA…obesity!
If epidemics are what is really responsible for government overreach and trillions in spending… why haven’t fast food restaurants and ultra-processing food plants been closed down? Why are subsidies going to crappy food growers rather than healthy food? Why isn’t exercise mandated? Why aren’t doctors recommending dirt cheap supplements of necessary vitamins and minerals we know that 80+% people are deficient in?
Oh…because there’s money to be made in allowing people to become fat on both ends of the funnel. Money in selling the crappy food. Money in selling the drugs and surgeries to treat them.
And THAT is why you must take your health into your own hands.
Now I’m going to tell you about an herb that has a research “antiobesity” effect.
Please do not take this to mean that this is a magic pill (…or tea in this case). I’m always hesitant to mention herbs helping with weight loss because they certainly can’t do it themselves! Far from it.
But done in addition to the common things like altering diet and movement it can help.
The herb I’m talking about is Gynostemma tea.
Human Trials of Gynostemma
This one has some quality human trails behind it!
In one randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, after twelve weeks of taking actiponin derived from gynostemma, “total abdominal fat area, body weight, body fat mass, percent body fat, and BMI were significantly decreased.” [4]
Another randomized, placebo controlled study gave Gynostemma tea to type 2 diabetic patients for twelve weeks. This study found improvements in insulin sensitivity as measured by fasting glucose, insulin levels and HbA1c. [5]
This being a complex plant this is just some of the effects it has.
Personally I drink it because it tastes good, is energizing and for it’s adaptogen qualities.
There’s a reason it’s called the “Longevity Grass.”
Try this one and see how it works for you…
The Long-Slow EASY Road to Weight Loss
One of the big causes of weight gain is drinks.
Most people load up their coffee with fat and sugar the combo of which, in absence of fiber or anything else, is sure to cause metabolic havoc.
Sodas and juices have tons of sugary calories that enter the bloodstream almost immediately.
Possibly even worse, are diet sodas. Although they don’t have calories themselves, they change your microbiome for the worse, make you less likely to get satiated from eating, alter glucose sensitivity and lead to more caloric eating and weight gain! [6]
So what if you replaced all caloric and “diet” drinks with just plain water?
…or better yet something like Gynostemma Tea?
You can drink hot tea of course (the heat helps to extract all the goodness inside).
But you could also brew the tea and chill it in the fridge for a cool drink. It is summertime after all.
If you’ve got that sweet tooth, then get some liquid stevia or monk fruit drops to help out. (No calories here yet we find actually beneficial effects to your body unlike chemical sweeteners such as aspartame). [7,8]
Anyone want to take this challenge?
Remember, the studies around shedding fat and improving glucose sensitivity I mentioned in a recent email took place over 12 weeks so that’s likely a good target number time frame.
Do this and then you can enter your results to win in our up to $1000 giveaway for case studies as found here.
We’d love to hear some more weight loss cases, using the help of our herbs.

If anything, the facts and figures that you show us are on the conservative side. Elsewhere, I have heard the number “70%” for the number of people in the USA who are “overweight”. And half of those are “obese”, or “severe” as this chart calls it.
