In the Amazon I got to try a method of herbal delivery that was completely new to me.
Up the nose!
Tobacco is a sacred plant of, well, pretty much every indigenous people that has it available. Certainly all over North and South America.
Of course, because of how it’s been grown, processed and treated, then we were lied to about it for years, everyone KNOWS that it is a deadly poison that will kill you in time.
And at the same time one of the most sacred plants there is.
Now, I am not encouraging you to go out and light up…just pointing out some interesting differences in perspective.
Getting back to my story, the Achuar people use tobacco a lot. And instead of smoking it they soak the leaves in water. They basically do an infusion, just like with a tea bag.
And Instead of drinking this (yuck!), they then pour it into the palm of your hand.
And up your nostrils it goes.
Not going to lie. It burns.
The first time I tried it, it was especially potent stuff, from the bottom of the bowl which had been sitting there for hours.
My eyes watered.
My head exploded.
I couldn’t do anything besides sit down for a couple minutes.
And it was awesome!
I did it a couple other times on the trip, and it was much more mild, a more pleasant experience.
The best way I could describe it was being relaxing to the body, yet stimulating to the mind.
Since getting home, am I seeking out tobacco to replicate this experience? No, at least not yet.
When in the Amazon, do as the Achuar do.
That was my motto.
And when I’m back home I’ll do as I do.
If I need an energetic kick that I can feel right away I’ll take some rhodiola or ant extract. Spartan formula is certainly another great option.
The only entry way I’ve used for those is orally.
While I have heard of some people snorting these powders I wouldn’t recommend it. ;)
