At the time of the writing of this article we have three tinctures available at Lost Empire Herbs.
The good news is we have a few other tinctures (including tincture formulas) in various stages of production, and have plans to continue expanding the line here.
In this video and post I wanted to take a moment to talk about combining the different tinctures, as this is a question we often get asked about.
The short answer is that yes, you can take all three of these tinctures, and any others all at once.
In fact, this triplet makes a good combination if you’re interested in hormone health. The pine pollen is going to provide that androgenic action. The nettle root is going to support that androgenic action. Then the ashwagandha is going to help with cortisol (among much else) to hit the hormones from a different angle entirely.
When taking multiple tinctures, you may want to change the dosage. For example, instead of a full dropper of each, you can do a half dropper full.

In essence, you’re making your own formula, mixing it within your mouth. As always with tinctures, it is best to hold them under your tongue for around a half minute to allow for absorption.
Another option would be to pour the tincture liquid into another bottle in order to actually formulate them together.
This can be combined with other tinctures, ones you make yourself, like the Ginseng Whiskey I discuss in this tincture making article, or one’s from other companies.
Tinctures are great because they’re easy to take and travel with, so you can take these three, or others along with you on the road. (Even though they’re liquid, I never have issues getting through TSA in the airport with them, and I generally don’t even put them in plastic bags!)

Thank you. Can you please recommend the best tincture combination/portions for seasonal allergies.
None of the tinctures we have at Lost Empire are specifically for allergies. Reishi is said to help. Other herbs we don’t have include nettle leaf, mullein, plantain, and butterbur.
Hi, I would like to make a combination tincture using peppermint, ginger, turmeric and dandelion. would the ration of each tincture to add to a 30ml jar be equal quantities?
They could be equal, they also could be not. It really depends on a variety of factors. For instance the peppermint taste might be too strong in equal parts, in which case you could use less of that. Or you wanted to more inflammatory action with the turmeric and thus put the most of that in. Just examples of what you could do.
I made a tincture of red clover, autumn olive, nostoc commune, elderflowers, mullein, wild lettuce. As a flu medicine. Have not used it yet.
Have you thought about making something for
COVID-19.
Per the FDA we’re not allowed to touch COVID with a ten foot pole.
But we do have some other great stuff for the immune system and lungs in general.
I have a question? Can I mix the herbs together from the start and mix it with the alcohol, to make the tincture of herbs? Or is not recomended?
Yes you can.
The only reason you wouldn’t want to would involve some additional advanced steps. For instance making a spagyric tincture you want to do the salt works separately. Or some herbs extract better or worse in different alcohol percentages thus it could be best to tincture separately and then combine. But overall it’s fine to do.
So a half of a dropper 30drops?
Yep.
Pine Pollen tincture must always be hold under the tongue to act . What about Nettle Root and Ashwagandha tincture , can they be disolved in in a glass of water ?
Tincturing is best used under the tongue. If you could put it in water and hold it in your mouth, even that would be better just swallowing it with a glass of water. You will get some benefits from swallowing right away but the whole idea of tincturing involves absorption through the thin membranes under the tongue.
I been combing tinctures for a while. I use Cloves, Dandelion, Black Walnut, and Worm Wood in a full glass of water. These tincture kill parasites and fight infections and boost the bodies ability to fight infection. I also use Pine Pollen tincture which I take alone directly, along with Tongkat Ali and Pine Pollen powders. This is an awesome combination for me and these tinctures combined with the powders really make a difference in my health and well being.
Sounds tasty Kenneth! Those parasite herbs can taste really strong!
