Shilajit Powder, Capsules and Resin
The Destroyer of Weakness and Conqueror of Mountains*

Shilajit Resin and Powder

We’re Proud to Offer High-Quality Shilajit Resin and Powder to Meet Your Needs

With a name like “Destroyer of Weakness” you know it has to be good!

But that’s just the beginning…

Shilajit is the #1 rated herb in Ayurvedic Medicine. It is highly regarded as the most powerful anti-aging substance known to the people of India.*

In fact, according to legends it is believed to be a nectar of the gods, to be magical, or have divine powers.*

It is undoubtedly a powerful adaptogen and Jing substance, known as Rasayana in Ayurveda* In some cases, Shilajit was even kept Secret by Top Yogis so they could get the benefits themselves.

Shilajit was once plant matter 50 million years ago that was compressed from the mountains and eaten up by microbes resulting in a tar-like substance. Shilajit Mineral Chunk

Historically it was used for just about everything.* There is hardly any function of the human body that Shilajit does not support in one way or another.*

“I’m that person that nothing works for me, this DID!” – Christopher S.

High Level Overview of Shilajit’s Health Benefits*

Dr. Jay, our supplier of Shilajit, claims it is said, “Take Shilajit every day for a year and it will add a year to your life.”*

Here are some of the main benefits:

“This has changed my life. I used to take numerous supplements. I have stopped taking all but one of them.”
– Scott Kruzan

Shilajit Contains Large Amounts of Humic and Fulvic Acids

Once, our food supply had a regular amount of fulvic acids, but over the years, they have become virtually non-existent, just like many minerals, through soil depletion. Fulvic acid is one of the main constituents of Shilajit and has some amazing benefits.

Research shows that fulvic acid can have inflammation and oxidation-modulating effects.1* This means it can be both pro- and anti-inflammatory as needed.* And act as both an antioxidant and support oxidation where needed.* These effects, in turn, can help to support the immune system.*

Fulvic acids have heavy metal binding capabilities and, therefore, can help the body to detoxify these dangerous elements.2*

Fulvic acid is one type of humic acid as shown in the chart here.3 And other humic acids have some of their own benefits too. In addition to adsorbing heavy metals, with a particular affinity for lead, mercury and cadmium, evidence shows humic acids can do the same to pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, mycotoxins, pharmaceuticals, and other toxins.4*

Furthermore, humic and fulvic acid helps move minerals and other nutrients into the tissues that need them.* It is believed that some of Shilajit’s potentiation effects come from these.*

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“It was my wife’s idea to start taking the shilajit, as she wanted a natural source of humic and fulvic acid. After a couple of weeks, we noticed that we both have more endurance when doing our cardio. We workout 3-4x/wk. I am able to run a mile without being overly fatigued and with a heart rate that usually doesn’t exceed low 140s. I am 73. My wife keeps pushing to add even more cardio to our workouts so she can ‘feel’ like she has really had a workout! She is 72.” – Ron F.

Reduced Fatigue and Greater Energy Production*

Delivering nutrients to the cells and detoxifying the disruptive stuff in them is one of the reasons that Shilajit helps with energy. One trial looked at Shilajit’s effects on mitigating fatigue’s effects on maximal muscular strength. Those taking 500 mg per day performed better.5*

Some rat research looked at its ability to reduce chronic fatigue by helping support mitochondrial efficiency, the powerhouses in the cells, and supporting the HPA axis.6* These are just some of the areas that Shilajit is lending a hand in.

These same effects may also be why Shilajit can help mitigate the impact of being at high altitudes.7* This is likely where the name “Conqueror of Mountains” comes from. Shilajit Powder Benefits

The effects on energy are one area our customers tend to rave about.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “I gave the shilajit to my boyfriend because he works 12 hour days/6 days a week & drank energy drinks once, sometimes twice a day. Taking the shilajit he has been able to quit energy drinks. He wakes up without being exhausted now! And another thing.. that Indian V_____ comment is real!” – Victoria

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “I can honestly say I was addicted to energy drinks I just never had enough energy to get through the day .. since trying Shilajit I’ve completely quit energy drinks … I’m completely sold on the products here my husband has started taking them as well and I’ve told several friends and family members about the benefits we have experienced … you feel boundless energy, clear headed and focused, decreased food cravings, increased sex drive .. the list goes on and on” – Kalani Briz

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “I feel like wrestling a bear right after I have taken this! I gives me a noticeable burst of energy. I use 10 to 30 mgs. before strenuous tasks, like yardwork. The taste is very strong, but now, I find myself looking forward to it, because I know what it will do for me. I’m 60 years old, and feel like I’m 30 when I take Shilajit Resin.” – Jesse

Increased Bone Mineral Density

It is very likely that women are being helped hormonally as well. Another clinical trial in sixty postmenopausal women aged 45 to 65 years, found that Shilajit increased bone mineral density while lowering oxidative stress and inflammation compared to placebo.10*

This study talks about how estrogen deficiency is tied to bone loss, and while the bone loss improved, it doesn’t look like they measured hormone levels.* (Truth is testosterone loss is also tied to bone loss in women too.)

Woman performing lunges with dumbbells outdoors for fitness and strength training.

Shilajit’s Effects on Testosterone

Another name it has from recent years is “Indian V____”.* It is said that this can help return the sex drive to the levels of youthful teenagers.*

Note that that is through very different mechanisms then other herbs. This is because Shilajit is helping the body be restored to its natural abilities and health rather than directly boosting anything.*

A clinical trial on men aged 45 to 55 found that Shilajit significantly raised total testosterone, free testosterone, and DHEAS compared with placebo over 90 days.8*

Another clinical trial found that infertile men increased several factors of sperm count and health as well as testosterone.9*

Improved Injury, Pain and Recovery

Another clinical trial looked at the healing time of a surgery for fractured tibia. Those taking Shilajit had a mean time to healing of 129 days while those taking a placebo had a mean time of 153 days.13*

Another study found that 250mg of Shilajit supplementation over 4 weeks combined with exercise improved skeletal muscle adaptation.14* Essentially, repair and regeneration ability increased.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My wife has been searching for something to help her with the pain and inflammation…Well, I think I finally found it. shilajit works for her…She swears this is the only thing that has worked. Thanks again guys for carrying this incredible stuff! – Robert

Improved Collagen Synthesis for Skin, Joints, Ligaments and More

Another clinical trial looked at Shilajit’s effects on gene expression related to type 1 collagen synthesis, important to the skin, eyes, bones, ligaments, tendons, and muscles. Compared to placebo the trial participants taking one gram of Shilajit per day for eight weeks had increased collagen synthesis.11*Tibia Health Shilajit

Another trial found that Shilajit supplementation helped improved skin health and growth of blood vessels in healthy adult women.12*

So we see that Shilajit is helping with various tissues in the body from the bones to the skin, helping to improve them all, which leads to the next area…*

Improved Cognition and Mood

Beyond energy and in the body, another area that Shilajit helps is your mental and emotional state.* Shilajit has shown some neuroprotective and procognitive benefits.3*

Shilajit has some activity on GABA receptors, thus having some calming properties on the nervous system, which may showcase it’s help with anxiety.15*

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Great for strength and brain power” – Al

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “This product has taken most of my debilitating symptoms away and has given me more energy, lifted the brain fog, helped me to stable out my mood swings…my memory is improving and my productivity at work has gone up. If you suffer from any of these, don’t walk, run to get this product. It’s incredible! I was skeptical at first but now I wish I had taken it 10 years ago.” – Donna Amos

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “my order arrived yesterday & I immediately gave it a test run. Within an hour I became much more alert & focused. My vision also became much clearer. Pretty awesome stuff! I can’t wait to see how I feel after a month of using it.” – Dave

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Never tried shilajit before, and this stuff was a revelation. When mixed into a cup of coffee it enhances the mood and energy boost but also moderates it with a calming, stabilizing effect. Shilajit is a staple in my regimen now!” – Erik Lee

Metabolism and Blood Sugar

Before starting Lost Empire Herbs, one of the owners, Cloud, worked as a long-haul truck driver. While so many truckers rely on coffee, energy drinks and junk food to fuel those drives, Cloud found Shilajit to work better. He would find he had lost a few pounds after returning from a lengthy drive.

Along with energy, there seems to be a boost to the metabolism when taking Shilajit.* Greater energy production in the cells can help with needing to consume less fuel.

In diabetic rats, Shilajit helped to regulate blood glucose levels, while also improving lipid profile.16*

Unfortunately, there isn’t other science in humans to back up these effects, but it is something we hear from customers from time to time…

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I’m being honest when I say that trying herbal supplements is not something I would normally do, but when I saw the results my friend Kevin was getting from Shilajit, I simply knew I had to try it. The effects are instantaneous, I dont take pain medication for past injuries, and my diet and metabolism has completely balanced out. Thanks Lost Empire Herbs!” – Jeff

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Weight loss ground to an immediate halt when I ran out. Got a replacement bottle, weight loss immediately returned to dropping pounds.” – Richard Stoney

Other Amazing Compounds in Shilajit

Beyond the fulvic and humic acids, another group of active compounds are the dibenzo-alpha-pyrones and dibenzo-alpha-pyrone-chromoproteins. These are possibly more potent in effect than even the acids.

Shilajit has also been found to contain fullerenes, also known as C60.17

These Buckminster Fullerenes are carbon molecules which have limited preliminary research showing they may be powerful for detoxing and anti-aging purposes.* To the best of our knowledge this is the only natural supplemental source of these.

Modern science is still investigating and finding new compounds such as shilajityl acetate, shilajitol, shilacatechol, shilaxanthone, shilanthranil and naphsilajitone.18

It is very rich in trace minerals. As all modern human diets tend to be mineral-depleted, this is another way that Shilajit can help support health.

Shilajit is Tri-Doshic

Coming from Ayurveda, if you know your dosha you can combine shilajit powder of any type with another substance for best effect.

3 Doshas
Vata – Sesame Oil
Pitta – Ghee
Kapha – Honey

Even without these combinations, you can take Shilajit by itself and find that it helps no matter which dosha you are.

Where Our Shilajit Comes From and How It’s Processed

Our Shilajit powder is sourced at over 10,000 feet in the Himalayan Mountains in Bhutan. The Shilajit resin is sourced at over 14,000 feet. Both are a combination of gold shilajit (swarna) and copper shilajit (tamra).

The pictures below give an idea of what Shilajit coming out of the mountains looks like.19

High-quality herbal supplements for health and wellness from Lost Empire Herbs.

This shilajit resin is collected from waterlogged areas. It is put into wooden barrels for 14 days so that the water gets settled down further. This slurry is rubbed through cotton cloth for filtering. That’s it! This is the least amount of processing available for shilajit which is reflected in both the taste and potency.

Shilajit resin extract for enhanced energy, stamina, and overall wellness. Pure, high-quality Shilaj.

For the powder, the shilajit rock is combined with the appropriate amount of spring water under a vacuum. It is heated up only to 38 degrees centigrade, the temperature of the body. This is then filtered through cotton cloth to remove dirt. It is cooled down over a long period of time to preserve its crystalline structure.

Shilajit Flow Chart

You can taste the difference! While the powder is slightly more refined than the resin it is still of the utmost quality.

For the capsules, our Shilajit powder is simply added to bovine gelatin capsules with no fillers, excipients, or anything else added.

Quality and Comparison to Other Shilajits

Some research has shown that some Shilajit products have high levels of heavy metals. This report found 10.5 micrograms of lead per gram in Banyan Botanicals Shilajit.20

Meanwhile, our Shilajit’s pass even California’s Proposition 65 exacting standards of less than half a microgram per dose.

Some Shilajits are spiked with additional fulvic acid to prove a high number. Even if not, different methods will show different results. Using a strict and accurate method (read about that here), we obtained the following results:

  • Our Shilajit Resin has come in 6.87% to 10.34% fulvic acid and 2.85% to 5.91% humic acid.
  • Our Shilajit Powder has come in at 17.61% to 28.12% fulvic acid and 2.71% to 3.29% humic acid.

Again, this may be less than other shilajit’s but be sure to ask for their testing and see which method is being used. Also, the variance on these from batch to batch may be large.

Many of our customers rave about our quality compared to other suppliers…

“Awesome value for Shilajit powder. Even better than Pure Black Resin.”
– Ashley Seday

“I love this product. I have used it for years from different carriers. I like it best from lost empire herbs.”
– Marcia Hollins

This is by far the most potent Shilajit I’ve taken. More potent than the powder from Lost Empire and more potent than another major brand that purifies and tracks their Shilajit. Although the powder helps me digest food better and have regular bowel movements (2x daily), I guess due to the higher quantity in the powder. It also goes straight to your head to rescue you out of any brain fog that happens from leaky gut. It helps me concentrate on a higher plane, and I’ve noticed when I work out or sprint I have this extra reserve of power where I don’t get out of breath or tired.”
– Kit

“I went out and tried some other Shilajit brands for comparison and found that most were Siberian from Altai mountains. While these were OK, I didn’t find them as effective as the Shilajit from Lost Empire…The cost of the product is nothing compared to its high quality.” – Lincoln English

Which Should I Get? Powder vs. Resin

Shilajit Resin

For best results, try each and see what you prefer. That being said, a general recommendation is that the powder/capsules may be better for the metabolism-boosting benefits.* Meanwhile, the resin may be best for anti-aging effects.*

The second thing to look at is how you’ll consume it. Capsules are obviously a convenience. The powder can be stirred into drinks. We use it in several of our formulas, such as Thor’s Hammer, Hercules and Phoenix, in part because of its potentiating effects. The resin is most easily consumed by putting it straight into your mouth. Label

Different customers find they may prefer one over the other…

“The powder offers the same benefits (overall strengthening of bodily systems, increased stamina and libido) as the resin, just of a lesser potency. I like using both the powder and resin. I use the powder more frequently while I use the resin when in need of an extra boost.” – Kenneth Middleton

“The shilajit resin is significantly stronger than the powder! I love how it gets rid of the cognitive fog that I have in the morning! The only reason that I’m giving four stars instead if five is the taste. Honestly, just bone up and fight through it because the benefits are amazing!!!!!” – Otiv

“Both are good, but I feel like you get more value from the powder.” – Gregory Abbott

“I have taken the powder and I prefer resin over powder 10-1! Not cutting the powder, but I like taking the resin better, concentrated more potent and easier to take. I am a 63 year old male taking pine pollen, tong Kat ali, and shilagit. The fountain of youth. I fee like I’m 30 again!… Lost Empire Herbs is by far the best!” – Tim

How to Take Shilajit

Shilajit is most effective when taken in the morning, providing an energizing start to the day and optimizing its absorption and benefits throughout the day. The dosage of Shilajit can be adjusted according to individual needs and responses, starting with a small pea-sized amount and increasing as needed to achieve the desired effects.

Shilajit Powder Dosage & Use

The recommended minimum daily dose is 1.5 grams (½ teaspoon). A 50-gram bag will last approximately 33 days at this dosage.

The first dose should be taken first thing in the morning and on an empty stomach. Of course, you can take even more. To combat disease per Ayurveda, in addition to the above you’ll take it 2-3 times per day.

Shilajit powder taken with any other food or herbs amplifies their potency so feel free to use it more often and in combination with our other herbs.*

It is not recommended to combine shilajit with citrus juices, as this may make aluminum content more bioavailable. This is out of an overabundance of caution.

NOTE: Shilajit powder varies by batch.  As shown in the images Shilajit varies from a light copper color to a deep dark brown as pictured here. This happens in part due to the time of the year, seasons and region in which the raw materials are harvested. (This is applicable to many herbal products)

Shilajit Capsules Dosage & Use

The recommended daily dosage is 3 capsules per day (which is a 1800 mg). Each bottle will last 30 days.

Best results when taken first thing in the morning and on an empty stomach.

Shilajit Resin Dosage & Use

Having tried many other Shilajits I have to say this is the best-tasting shilajit I’ve ever had. Slight tar-like flavor with a little bit of grit. That being said, not everyone may like its strong taste right away.

The recommended dose is 100 mg which is best taken first thing in the morning. That’s about the size of half a pea. The simplest way to take shilajit resin is to put it directly in your mouth. Allow it to dissolve or simply swallow it down.

Warning: you may end up with shilajit lips or teeth. This is not permanent.

Remember, it can also be mixed with anything else to enhance the potency and absorption. You can take more doses spread throughout the day if you wish.

Note: Please store this container in a cool dry place. Keep the threads of the jar and lid clean and free of the pitch as this can cause the container to become ‘glued’ shut. We cannot replace Shilajit that has become closed in this manner.

Shilajit’s Side Effects and Contraindications

Shilajit has been in use for thousands of years in Ayurveda. If it was dangerous it would have fallen in disfavor. If there are side effects they’re more likely caused by ‘fake shilajit’, improperly processed kinds, or those with contaminants.

Shilajit is not recommended in people with gout as it can increase uric acid levels.

“At first I really liked the shilajit, increased my energy noticeably, but unfortunately, it caused severe flare ups of gout. I’m unable to take it but I wish I could. I’m 5’10” and 145 lbs, used to be vegan and run marathons. Evidently, I have some genetic malfunction so that I cannot eliminate uric acid efficiently” – Glenn Neal

Diabetics also need to be extremely careful with it and monitor any medication that can lower blood sugar levels with its effects.

Historically pregnant women have used shilajit, though the West would consider it untested. Consult with your doctor. Historically Shilajit has also been used with children but with smaller doses of course.

Some research with rats looked at giving them massive doses and found no liver toxicity or excessive iron.*

Rats were fed up to 5 grams of Shilajit per kilogram of body weight for 91 days with no ill effects.21

*Normally, we would conduct a laboratory identity test as a secondary verification to confirm that the product matches what our suppliers claim. However, this product does not have established reference samples for testing at Alkemist Labs or Purity-IQ due to the challenges of creating reliable standards for certain rare components like fulvic and humic acids. Consequently, we rely on IAS Laboratories for testing fulvic acid and humic acid potency levels, which is approved by the FDA. This approach is necessary because generating accurate reference samples for these acids requires verifying several separate raw material samples to establish a standard.”

FAQ

Shilajit

Details about Shilajit:

Shilajit is a mineral resin that comes out of the mountains at high elevations. It is an ancient plant matter that has been compressed and has taken on more of a mineral quality. Alchemically, this is seen as a more potent medicine than anything in the plant world.

Our shilajit comes from the Himalayan mountains in India.

By hand in the Himalayan mountains, at different elevations depending on the type of shilajit.

Yes, these are other names for the same thing.

The shilajit resin “tar” form is the most potent and minimally processed. The shilajit powder is easier to mix and is used in several formulas. Capsules contain the powder and are convenient. We recommend trying each to see which works best for you.

Shilajit is considered immortal and thus does not have a shelf life. However, storing it in a cool, dry place is ideal.

From Chinese medicine: it is definitely a Jing substance. It also has Qi properties for energy production and some Shen effects, making it possess all three treasures.

Shilajit is warming and may be contraindicated for people who are overly hot. Historically, it was consumed with milk or other cooling substances.

Quality:

Many fake or low-quality shilajit products exist. We use better testing methods to verify fulvic and humic acid levels. We also offer a 365-day money-back guarantee.

Our powder and resin are a combination of gold shilajit (swarna) and copper shilajit (tamra).

The powder is extracted with spring water under a vacuum, heated to 38°C, and filtered through a cotton cloth. The resin is collected from waterlogged areas, settled in wooden barrels for 14 days, then filtered through a cotton cloth.

Our shilajit resin passes California Proposition 65 standards. Fulvic and humic acids help detox heavy metals. [Read more].

Our shilajit contains aluminum in parts per million, similar to normal food levels. These are alumino-silicates, which act differently than aluminum ions. [Read more].

Previous testing showed 2.55 mg/g, but this varies by batch.

Miron glass jars.

Bovine gelatin, not suitable for vegans or vegetarians.

How to Take Shilajit:

No. Daily use provides the best effects over time.

First thing in the morning is ideal, but any time is beneficial.

Milk helps balance its warming properties and aids absorption.

Citrus juice can free aluminum from natural silicates. Take shilajit at least an hour apart from citrus.

Yes, as it is rich in minerals.

Effects:

Shilajit is rich in trace minerals, aids detoxification, and has been historically used for various health benefits.

It restores overall health, which may improve sexual function naturally.

Contraindications:

People with high uric acid levels should avoid it. Diabetics should monitor blood sugar levels. Pregnant women and children have historically used shilajit, but consult a doctor before use.

Interactions with Other Herbs:

Yes! It acts as a potentiator, enhancing absorption.

A potentiator enhances the effects of other substances. Shilajit helps deliver nutrients, herbs, and minerals more effectively into cells.
