Reishi – The Mushroom of Immortality
Reishi, also known as Ling Zhi and Ganoderma Lucidum, is found in many parts of the world on a wide variety of trees. It has also been called by a number of other names including:
“God’s Herb” and “10000 Year Mushroom.”
Many tonic herbalists agree that if everyone was taking Reishi, the world would be a much better place. It increases your sense of well-being and may enhance your personal evolution.*
It has the highest reputation in China and surrounding areas, even being displayed along with gods and goddesses in their artwork and temples, like on top of the pinnacle in the middle in the art below.
Among the therapeutic mushrooms, the organic Reishi herb has been studied more than any other, because of its historic reputation.

Real Mushroom Extract, Not Mycelium Grown on Grain
Most therapeutic mushrooms sold in the US are mycelium grown on grain. These have been tested to have far fewer components, like beta-glucans, triterpenes and more, than real mushroom fruiting bodies. In fact, most of what is sold to you from other companies are just starch from the grain that it is grown on.
Further, the mushrooms cannot produce the same components when grown on grain as on their natural environment, aka wood. Reishi needs to grow on wood to produce triterpenes which provide its bitter flavor, not to mention many benefits.
Our Reishi mushroom supplement is made exclusively from the fruiting bodies grown on wood, commonly known as the mushrooms, and nothing else. No grain, starch or fillers of any kind.

Organic 16:1 Dual Extraction
This is a potent extract of Reishi mushrooms! Sixteen kilograms of Reishi is used to produce a single kilogram of this reishi extract. Yes, it is pricier than many other Reishi products out there but that’s because it is highly concentrated. This means you need far less of it to enjoy the benefits.
Instead of growing in a lab, the Reishi mushroom supplement is cultivated on logs in China, where proper growing and processing is at its best. Rest assured that our mushrooms are 100% organic certified by the USDA.

The organic Reishi herb is then extracted with both alcohol and water to draw out as much of the curative compounds from the mushrooms as possible.
- 24.4% Beta-(1-3)(1-6)-glucans
The recommended dosage is 1/2 to 1 gram per day meaning each bag will last you up to 1 month. This is approximately 1/4 to 1/2 tsp per day.

Love it. Never dissapointed with LEH! It definitely makes you calmer, and a more “composed” person if that makes sense. It boosts your overall sense of well being, but, like most herbs, takes time to build up, and effect. Bought it about a month ago, and still have some! Definitely recommend it to anyone interested in reishi, and it’s capacities to improve your life, and calm/nourish your shen/spirit.

I have been experimenting with many herbs from lost empire and I can honestly say the more I experiment the better I am performing, feeling, and enjoying better health
With reishi I mixed it with a few other herbs in the morning , and can say I respond well to the herb and it does give me a sense of wellness and strength in calmness.
I have been off it for a month or so now and I will order some again to see if it again makes a difference
Zane Christopher –
Definitely let us know how your experimenting goes, James!

With full disclosure and understanding that my personal experience may be unique I offer this review on Reishi. I tend to add one herb at a time so new effects can be attributed with greater confidence. Two changes stand out for me. First, an overall feeling of a relaxed and calm confidence overtook me. Secondly, a compelling desire to spend more time understanding and sensing what other people want and need while finding a way to make it happen. Reishi has opened my heart to others. As a result, my life has become rich in countless ways. While it is a bit too early to comment on immortality 🙂 I’ll leave you, the reader, to come up with your own definition for personal evolution.

Very strong taste, but you get used to it. Didn’t feel it made any difference, not worth trying again because high price and have to pay customs tax (male, uk resident)

I have been using reishi for a year and a half and I tend to be in a better mood when I’m using it. I use a lot of Lost Empire Herbs and reishi is one of my favorites. The price is a bit high, but if you buy reishi any where else you will soon realize that the lower quality stuff isn’t worth your time.
If you want to experiment with some herbs, I definitely recommend giving this one a shot.

Reishi is the bomb! It is really hard to get good quality product but Lost Empire Herbs got the goods goin’ on! I’ve had success with Reishi products from other distributors for any skin eruption that may occur. Usually a week will show improvement. However, with Lost Empire Herbs Reishi, one dose and a huge improvement already materialized. Very good product.

I take Reishin in combination with Cordyceps so I don’t know about its standalone effects. However when used in the combination mentioned above I do notice faster recovery after workouts, less fatigue, and I’m clearer and more focused.
The taste is mild compared to other herbs but shouldn’t be mixed with everything. I mix it with dark teas or chocolate shakes only.
It’s very susceptible to humidity and even in my Miron glass it’s difficult to maintain it powdery.
Zane Christopher –
Interesting about the moisture issue. I have not encountered that but I live in a dry climate. Thank you for alerting us to this Ernesto, we will see if its happening to others.
Nick M. –
Hello. So I tried this as well as the other three mushrooms that superman carries. This one I can say by far has the best taste. The flavor is mild and I would even describe it as satisfying somehow. I like it and would definitely consider getting some more.
So this comes in a 100 gram bag within a bag. Compared to the other two (I only tried a small sample of the cordyceps) it looked like the fullest bag of all. I think it must have a lower moisture content compared to the chaga and lions mane. It just looks like you get more in terms of volume compare to those other two. So but in terms of volume that also means that using one teaspoon at a time that the reishi is going to last longer than the the chaga and lions mane. My use of the three full size bags has proven this to be true.
I have seen some coffees marketed as having reishi extract added and I can understand why. The flavor actually kind of has a creamy/creamer quality to it with a slight bitter aftertaste. The flavor is very pleasant and satisfying to the core of my being.
Anyways as far as the effects, I am curious what this thing that is said about reishi supposedly supporting personal evolution. I don’t know how thats possible exactly but I can say that when I first started using this I was taking it along with two other mushroom extracts at the same time (chaga and lions mane)so the effects were probably enhanced by the overall combination. But I do think I noticed some mind expanding effects that I would primarily attribute to the reishi. It does have a unique character all its own. Even though I was taking three mushrooms in combination I think I could still distinguish somewhat to their individual effects. The reason is that I am a very sensitive person who can pick up on a lot of subtle differences between things.
See, I could tell that the lions main was not working out for me. I believed that it was making me feel delirious. Once I stopped taking the lions mane, those side effects went away. I was only using it for about a week and a half.
I think maybe the combination of all three mushrooms was too strong or else I think I may have had a negative reaction to the lions mane. So for the past week and a half I have only been taking the reishi and chaga. I believe that the together these two are doing something surprisingly good for my immune system.
Case in point, I have had a odd little scar at the top of my buttocks that I believe has shrunk within the past week or two. I don’t know why I really noticed it but I did. It usually has a sort of sore feeling to it when I would rub it but that feeling has gone away. The scar is from a sore I had when I was a kid and had chicken pox. It never healed all the way and left a circle of scar tissue there in that spot. I think that if I were to continue using the chaga and or reishi together for a couple months that this old sore might go away completely. I think this is an indication that I have definitely received a boost to my immune system!
I’m almost out of my chaga but there stills seems to be half the bag of reishi left, so again, I’ve been using about the same volumes of both, and they both come in 100 gram bags, but it seems like the reishi is lasting about twice as long. So I would say that its the best value in terms of quantity. This is my first ever experience with reishi mushroom. I look forward to finishing the rest of the bag and am hopeful for the positive effects to continue.
The only potential drawback I have seen is taking too much of the reishi at a time. When I have taken a double dose at one time I think it made me sleepy. I tried using two teaspoons at a time to get a stronger taste but cut back to just one and a half and I’m not getting that effect so much now. I wonder if this would be a good mushroom to take before bedtime?
It dissolves better in water than the lions mane or chaga. It doesn’t require hot water as does the chaga. I don’t know if hot water effects the potency but it taste better when I use hot or very hot, but not boiling water. I think this dissolves easily in water because it is an extract. Overall this is a good quality herb and I would recommend it as a good mushroom to start off with if you have never used them. It seems like a pretty good value compared to other mushroom products I have seen, although I would prefer to get a version that was grown on its natural substrate instead of grain. This reishi is apparently grown on grain, but still, I think its a very high quality mushroom extract.
I would recommend this mushroom above all the others that superman currently has available in terms of value and quality. Thanks folks!
