Triple Extracted Wild Reishi for Immune System Support and Shen Activation
Reishi, the Mushroom of Immortality, is among the most legendary in Chinese medicine.
Its benefits are multi-fold, though it is most well-known for two purposes.
Qi and Immune Support
For supporting the immune system to become more intelligent through its rich reserves of polysaccharides and triterpenoids.*
It is considered a premier Qi tonic, not that it gives you energy like Ant extract, but because of how it works in the background to help the immune system, cardiovascular system, metabolism, and more.*
You can read much more about this on our Reishi 16:1 powder page.
Wild Shen – Concentrated Nature
Even more so than Qi, Reishi is known as a Shen tonic.
This is especially true of Reishi grown in the wild. For whatever reason, those cultivated don’t seem to have the same “spiritual” effects.*
It’s as if the Reishi concentrates the serenity of nature into itself by growing out in the woods.*
For everyday purposes, Shen means:
- A calmer mind*
- Less stress*
- Ease and grace*
- A more meditative state*
- Ability to flow*
Triple Extracted, Alchemical Preparation
If you’ve been using medicinal mushrooms for a while, you know it is better if they are dual extracted, using both water and alcohol. (All of our powders at Lost Empire Herbs are done this way.)
This is an over-simplification, but polysaccharides such as the immune-supporting beta-glucans are drawn out best in water. Terpenes are drawn out best in alcohol. Having just one fraction or the other is incomplete.
To this, the “salt principle,” as done in spagyrics or herbal alchemy, through a process of calcination, dissolution, and crystallization is added for a third extract layer.
In short, I call it a triple extract mushroom as it is:
- Alcohol Extracted (with 190 proof Organic Cane Alcohol)
- Hot Water Extracted (with Fresh, Filtered Spring Water)
- Spagyric Extraction through Calcination of the “Salts”
(Note that this is the same process our popular Mushroom Alchemy goes through.)
Furthermore, as this was an experimental batch, it was also concentrated down stronger than it usually would be. The final result is 40% ABV (alcohol by volume).
Wild Source
The Reishi used for this tincture is wildcrafted on the East Coast of the USA.
The species is Ganoderma tsungae.
Dosage and Taste
The recommended dose is one squirt (about 1 mL) daily after SHAKING very well.
You may modify this dose up or down as you see fit.
Reishi has a chocolately start with a bitter and characteristically-Reishi finish.
