Capsules and Tinctures
Although Athena contains four berries that make it taste better…most people still wouldn’t describe it as good tasting. An acquired taste at the very least.
We still have plans to make a capsulized version available in due time.
…but in the meantime, I decided to craft a spagyric tincture using the same seven ingredients.
And I’m happy to announce that is finally ready.
Please note that this is a limited supply and at a higher cost due to the labor involved.
Hopefully, those who take it find the cost worth it for the potency it has.
The Athena Tincture Formula
Please note that the ratios of the tincture are different than those found in the powder. This was required for a number of reasons.
- 25% Dong Quai
- 25% Shatavari
- 15% Goji
- 10% Schisandra
- 10% Sea Buckthorn
- 10% Longan
- 5% Pine Pollen
The mainstay of this formula is still the dynamic duo of Dong Quai and Shatavari, the #1 female herbs from Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda respectively.
They form the principal action of this formula. And their unique root tastes do come through.
This is further balanced and rounded out with the four berries. Goji has a little bit more to help with the flavor. Together they lend sweetness and sourness to the taste.
Lastly is just a little bit of Pine Pollen. This is in the tincture form, which is normally not recommended for women. However, as you see here there is a small amount. Many women are deficient in testosterone and a drop or two of the Pine Pollen Tincture can really help. Here we have roughly that amount balanced by all the other herbs.
Why Spagyrics?
As I dove deeper into herbalism, I learned about the REAL art of alchemy (not turning lead to gold, what most people think it’s about) specifically the spagyric arts with herbal plant material.
The idea behind a spagyric tincture is that the “salt” is added back in, which normal tinctures completely lack, just having the “mercury” and “sulfur” compounds. (Please note these are the philosophical elements, not to be confused with the chemicals by the same name. I’m trying to explain this in a way that doesn’t take an hour or more of training!)
“Salt,” as the most earthy part, in reality, the mineral matrix of the plant, makes the tincture more embodied…which in turn helps it to better work within your body. This is why you can often get better results with a lower dosage on a spagyric tincture vs. a regular tincture.
Quality and Processing
The Goji, Schisandra and Pine Pollen used in this formula all come from the sources we normally use.
The other ingredients, had to be obtained elsewhere in the raw form to be used.
Most of the ingredients are certified organic (Shatavari, Dong Quai, Schisandra, Goji). The others are not certified (Longan, Sea Buckthorn, Pine Pollen) but grown in great conditions nonetheless.
Each ingredient was tinctured for over six weeks in a menstruum made with:
- Organic Cane Alcohol 30-50% ABV
- Filtered Fresh Spring Water
After pressing the ingredients stems, they’re calcined and ground down into a fine, then further extracted with distilled water and a gentle evaporation process until crystals are formed. These purified “salts” are added back into the tincture to finish the process.
The different spagyrics are then combined in the ratios listed above for formulation.
Recommended Dosage
The recommended dosage is half a squirt done twice per day, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Some people may find this stimulating, so it is not recommended taking it at night.
This comes in a one-fluid-ounce bottle, so there are about 40 full squirts per bottle. At the recommended dose a bottle will last about 40 days.
This dose is just a starting point. You can modify the dose up or down as you best see fit.
