In this message I am going to relate my initial experience taking Cistanche as a 70 year old married male.
In order to have a fuller appreciation of my experience, I want to preface it with a note I read in the inside leaf of a used sociology text book that I used for a class in college about 50 years ago. The story tells of a professor polling his sociology class on the frequency of their sexual intercourse. The professor asked the students to respond to the poll by raising hands. First he asked for those that had sex daily, and a couple of hands went up. Then the professor asked the students to raise their hands if they had sex every other day, and a few hands went up. Then the students were asked how many had sex 2 times a week and several more hands went up. The professor then asked how many had sex once a week, and a reasonable number of hands raised. When asked how many had sex every other week, some more hands went up, but not quite the number that had sex once a week. He then asked how many had sex once a month, and a few, but not as many hands were raised. Eventually the professor asked how many had sex once a year. Only one senior aged looking male waived his hand, but he did it enthusiastically. The professor then made his point about the representative bell curve, and come back to query further the senior man who had sex one time a year. He asked if he would not mind sharing why he provided such an enthusiastic response to the question of having sex only one time a year. The fellow smiled wryly and replied… tonight is the night!!!
Alright with that background let me reveal a few relevant facts to frame my personal experience:
- As stated above, I am making my 70th trip around the sun.
- During my 70 years, it has been my good fortune that my soldier boy has never failed to come to attention or to stand tall through out a call to duty. I’ve sired and helped raise 3 children.
- If my soldier boy were to complain, it would only be that as time goes by he sees less action than he would like.
- My wife’s libido is generally satisfied with a once monthly union, so even though she is a bit younger, her desire does not stand out as often as mine.
- On a few occasions over the years I’ve had access to and enjoyed small amounts of Ashawaganda and Ginseng, and once I even tried a small sample of non-LEH pine-pollen tincture.
Recently I ordered several products from LEH: Gynostemma tea, Cistanche, Pine Pollen and Sea Buckthorn. I tend to be relatively sensitive to herbs and supplements, consequently I tend to begin adding them one at a time to my intake. That way I get a better sense of how the individual product impacts me. This time after receiving the LEH products I started day 1 with Gynostemma tea. Day 2 I took a mega-dose of Pine Pollen. Day 3 I took Gynostemma tea, Sea Buckthorn and a smaller dose of Pine Pollen. Day 4 I took Cistsanche. Day 5, 6, 7… I had some of each
The effects were subtle. It is not like I had a foggy mind before and the fog suddenly lifted, or I was weak before and suddenly became superman. It was more like taking the herbs topped me off, like adding some color into some parts of me that had become a little washed out or faded or were hangin back in the shadows a bit.
Now to the big, wave my hands enthusiastically news about the herbs effects on my wife. My wife ingested none of the herbs… however we made love on the evening of the first day I took Cistance. To my absolute surprise, and I might add our delight, we also made love the next evening (the 2nd day I took Cistance). We rested the 3rd night, and lo and behold made love again on the 4th night of taking the herb combo!!!.
Was it the alignment of the planets and stars? Was it the Cistance? Will I ever know? I do know I’ve taken the herbs for only a brief time, with to the best of my knowledge no measurable difference in the equipment and yet the wife responded in ways that I enthusiastically appreciate. I plan to continue with the herbs and to note any lasting effects.

We thank DW for sharing a part of his personal journey toward vibrant health here for you all to read, and happily give him credit to get more of our herbs.
We share these case studies in an effort to build up a body of anecdotal evidence that herbs change lives for the better. While gold standard, double-blind, placebo-controlled scientific studies are great, there simply aren’t enough of them in the realm of herbs. (For example, Pine Pollen doesn’t have a single human trial.) Although case studies are n=1 experiment, not tightly controlled nor placebo-blind, they still lend evidence of things working, especially when a large number of them are gathered.
For the most part, we are not interested in reductive science isolating a single variable in these case studies. The fact is nature and life don’t work that way! We are much more interested in people getting results. And that often takes many variables, aka massive action. Thus, these case studies are shared in this spirit. Now onto the legalese…
