Since Lost Empire Herbs was founded by myself and my two brothers, and we are “men“, we have devoted our time to helping men. We know and understand them better.
Although Pine Pollen may be known as a “male herb,” it can be EVERY bit as helpful for women too. In some cases, even more so!
Similarly, we often talk about how it can help boost or regulate testosterone, actually containing trace amounts within it. This is great for both men and women (though guys, of course, pay much more attention to that hormone). The fact is that women need testosterone to be healthy too, just about 1/10th as much as men, similarly to how estrogen is important for guys too.
Meanwhile, Pine Pollen also contains trace amounts of DHEA. This “weak” androgen may not be responsible for the same thing testosterone is but is hugely important. In fact, it is considered one of the main anti-aging hormones, good for the heart, sleep, cognitive function, countering inflammation, and more.

While it may not have enough to “supply” DHEA like you could get with a direct supplement it’s likely going to help regulate these numbers in an intelligent way. Plus, DHEA is a precursor to both testosterone and estrogen.
On both of those notes, I want to share this amazing story from Candice…
“We emailed a little while ago about your Pine Pollen. I started using it beginning of August for extremely low DHEA levels detected in a blood test… they were so low they weren’t even on the cart (<1) and low progesterone… I was told I had to go on DHEA supplement but because I’m breastfeeding I did not want to do that as it’s not good for the baby and I didn’t want to wean my baby.
I started taking the powder round mid-August and it’s been amazing! I had two sets of blood work since then (for Hypothyroid) and asked them to test DHEA as-well first test came back at 56 (low end of normal) and my last test came back 135 NORMAL 😀 😀 😀
I still think it can raise a little as the normal range goes just over 1000 so I will continue. My progesterone has also balanced out. can’t express my happiness and gratitude! DHEA supplements take over the function of your body making it, Pine Pollen supports your body in making its own!
I couldn’t be happier. I took 1 tablespoon on empty stomach in the morning and recently increased to 2. Thank you so much. My 17-month-old breastfed baby is also doing Great and I noticed absolutely no affects for him with me taking it and nursing. Thank you again for your amazing herbs and assistance in healing!” – Candice
Amazing isn’t it?
Of course, your results may vary. So please don’t take this to mean it will work the same for you, because everybody is different and there can be many factors at play. That being said, it’s always worth a shot.
Does Pine Pollen Work for Women? YES!
Let’s talk about our most popular herb, pine pollen. Pine pollen, in its powdered form, is great for women.
In China, where pine pollen has been used for thousands of years, it is considered one of the beauty tonics for women. Yes, it can be used on your skin, having several compounds like MSM that support collagen and elastin. And taken internally, with its wide variety of minerals, vitamins, amino acids, antioxidants and more it’ll help support your health.
Many women get scared off when they see the word “testosterone.” Taking pine pollen, especially in powdered or capsule form, will not make you wake up with a mustache, deepen your voice, or sprout huge muscles. But it will help support your hormones in many different ways.

The tinctured form, which concentrates and makes the phytoandrogens more bioavailability, is generally not recommended for women. That being said we have reports from a couple ladies, especially in post-menopausal years, that get great benefits from this using one to a few DROPS per day, instead of dropperfuls. (Here’s more detail on herbs and menopause.)
Other Great Herbs for Women
First of all, I’ll mention Athena Woman’s Formula which was formulated specifically for women. And that includes having some pine pollen in it.
Another highly touted herb for women in China is the schisandra berry. This is one of the top beauty herbs. But it does far more than just improve your hair and complexion. It has been shown to increase night vision, alertness, detoxification and much more.
Ashwaganda is an herb that is commonly recommended for men, but it can work just as well for women. This one is especially helpful in helping to relieve stress by making your body better adapt to it. It may also support thyroid health which is a big issue in many women today.
The mushrooms are all great for women. So is shilajit. And on and on it goes…
We don’t have anything here, beside the pine pollen tincture already mentioned, that should not be used by women.
If you have more specific questions about how any of the herbs or pine pollen can help women, just ask in the comments below. We’ll be posting a new article about how pine pollen can positively affect fertility in both men and women.

Just ordered some sample pine powder for the man – and will see what he thinks.
However, like many above I am interested on the women’s health issues and look forward to more info in general for us Mature gals 🙂 We have aches and breaks and gone through many issues and there’s lots of us who wouldn’t mind some attention for anything that takes away pain, gives a good immune boost and helps also with skin issues. I can NOT live without pine salve – I have tried them all from the Amish drawing salve to homemade on Etsy and they are a life saver at preventing itch, for those who are well endowed, heals cuts and more. Beats meds from the Dermatologist. I hope you might look into making Pine Salves as they are pricey. Of course I could always go into the trees and collect it and learn to make it myself! Will I? Hmmm not likely – scary critters in those woods. Please send Ebook on herbs. Thanks very much & Keep up the good work and products. It’s appreciated!
Have you looked at Athena, it hits all the bases you mentioned? https://lostempireherbs.com/product/athena/
You should see the ebook in your email inbox shortly after the order.
Hi, I just found your site while looking for Pine Pollen Powder and women taking it. The ebook you are speaking of can you send to me as well as other information on women’s health.
The critical issue I’m having now is nerve pain throughout my body. Last year I had a fall and had to have surgical debridement on my leg. They had to remove dead tissue down to the fat of my leg. I went through that from August through the end of October. Well as the healing process progresses I’m having tremendous nerve pain as the nerves are being regenerated. Can you recommend anything that may help me during this regeneration period. I’m not sleeping because I feel like a live wire constantly. It can be unbearable at times. I don’t do synthetic drugs so I’ve just been trying to endure the discomfort. Please help as you are directed to do so through the Great Almighty Jehovah! Thank you!
Not sure which ebook you’re referring to, as I don’t see that mentioned in the post.
As for your nerve pain, sorry to hear about that. There’s two things I would recommend trying. One is Blue Vervain which can be helpful with pain. https://lostempireherbs.com/product/blue-vervain-tincture/
Another is St. John’s Wort. We don’t sell this one. While most people think about this for depression it actually is specific for nerve pain.
Best of luck and let me know if you try either of those, how they work or don’t work for you.
Upon researching your site for herbs beneficial for women I see a lot of herbs that are beneficial for menstruating women. I would love to see a specific formula for post-menopausal women. Something to keep us healthy addressing anti-aging, bone-loss and sexual energy (really important :-)).
Yes, I have ordered the Athena Formula.
Athena is a great start and we’re definitely looking into expanding our line of herbs and formulas for women. We’ll certainly work towards a formula for post-menopausal women.
Thanks Jude. Actually Athena was designed as least in part with post-menopausal women in mind. That seems to be where we’re getting most of our positive reviews from. It certainly addresses to some degree each of the things you listed so I hope it works well for you.
Hi Logan! I just wanted to reinforce Ashwagandha for women. I take ashwagandha frequently as part of my routine and really like it. There are also some studies that suggest it is good for breast health. I give it an A+.
Thanks Shelby. It seems to me that women might like ashwagandha even more than men.
How is the Pine Pollen taken? And how much would a women take? You tell how much guys should take, but how much for a girl? Also does it taste bad? You said it can be applied to skin, its a powder so I’m wondering how that works?
Typically as a powder. Mix it in water or anything else that you drink. I think it tastes good though not everyone agrees with that opinion. A little bitter, mostly pine-y.
Women can start with the same amount of the powder as men. They probably don’t need the megadose amount.
As for how to apply it to the skin you’ll need to mix it with typically an oil base. I like coconut oil.
Hello,
Does the pine pollen affect effectiveness of estrogen only birth control?
That is a good question and I do not accurately know the answer. What I do know is that birth control has some issues so you might want to look at getting off it.
Hi
You have mentioned the pine powder can be used on the skin. Could you please give instructions for this?
Thanks,
Lisa
There’s not really an established protocol for this…yet. You can wet it down and apply it to the skin. Or mix with some sort of fat base and do the same.
Please send me your ebook on women’s herbs/hormone formula. I seem to have aged ten years in one year after I broke both arms in Dec. 2013 tripping over a child at school where I work. It is very hard to accept this saggy baggy crepey skin. I would love to know what works. I’ve been trying a lot of things but nothing helps much.
Thanks
Paige
We don’t have an ebook on women’s herbs as this time. We will be releasing a limited batch of our Super Woman’s Formula and the Beauty Blend pretty soon though.
Hi.. I would like to know if there is any herbs that would help with my wife’s arthritis Thx Don
Please send me your book how to take the herbs so i can see what to order
Hello. I am interested in possible herbs that could help to
increase fertilization for my wife as we are having difficulties.
Please recommend which herbs or combinations could
possibly help in this area. Thank you.
Maca-Maca, a good organic. approximately 1 tablespoon per day increasing to 2 tablespoon, this is something you can adjust accordingly with body composition also taken into account.
MEN – Sunflower Lecithin, organic (have only found one that you know is working) 2400mg per day or 1-2 tablespooons depending on body weight. Also Zinc (a Zinc that addresses the Krebs cycle) 30-100 mg/day.
I too would like to know more about a woman specific formula!
I would like more info on herbs for women too – I have just started the “hot Flashes and would like to reduce or get rid of them. Thanks
Thanks for the feedback. I’d recommend trying the pine pollen to see if that helps. And we’ll have more woman-related info in the future…
This is seriously intriguing stuff, Logan! 🙂 Can’t wait to try some of these out! 🙂
Hi again, I PM you, just won’t to check if you got it?
Best Jake

Hey Logan, I’ve been slowiy getting my wife interested in trying the pine pollen powder; she was skeptical, but has seen how I have improved my overall physical and spiritual health using your products. I would love to introduce her to a more “woman specific” formula should you develop one in the near future. Please keep me informed. Also, what do I need to do to get a copy of your “how to take herbs” book? Thx in advance, David Cutrer
Thanks David and we will do. Check your email for the ebook.
