“Inflammaging” – The Root of Chronic Disease
Turmeric, the Popular Inflammation Fighter Now Available in Private Reserve Spagyric Tincture
Inflammation is found as the root of virtually all chronic disease which tend to go hand in hand with aging. So much so that the name “Inflammaging” has become popularized.
Turmeric is well known today for its ability to support a wide range of health benefits including its well-known ability to help reduce joint pain & stiffness, liver health, and digestive health.*
A review on the subject states:
“It has been proposed that a chronic state of inflammation correlated with aging known as inflammaging, is implicated in multiple disease states commonly observed in the elderly population. Inflammaging is associated with over-abundance of reactive oxygen species in the cell, which can lead to oxidation and damage of cellular components, increased inflammation, and activation of cell death pathways…and its contribution to various age-related diseases such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes, and rheumatoid arthritis.”*
This picture, while very complex, shows the many mechanisms by which this functionally and biochemically works.
Inflammation by itself is not bad. Instead, it is just having too much of it always going on. Just like stress. Functionally, that means in our modern-day world we need to quell the inflammatory storm that is almost always going on.
Is Turmeric Specific for Inflammaging?
You’ve undoubtedly heard of Turmeric, the yellow-staining root famous from India. It is one of the most studied roots in the world.
What’s interesting is that we find Turmeric active in almost exactly the same pathways of inflammaging.*
I’m not saying it fixes those diseases, but that instead it can help to promote healthy functioning by working through these pathways are more.* Optimize the working of those pathways and you’ll be able to age more gracefully.*
And that’s why we see many benefits across all kinds of trials.
Scientific Studies
Several randomized controlled trials have shown benefits to those suffering from arthritis, improving pain, stiffness and function.
Other trials have found benefits from turmeric to skin health, when used orally as well as topically.
- Turmeric has anti-bacterial properties*
- It exhibits neuroprotective effects*
Turmeric and curcumin have been found to be extremely safe even at high doses. “For example, oral administration of curcumin at the dose of 6 g/day for 4–7 weeks was safe in human.”
Curcumin and Much More
The “active constituent” is curcumin, the most well-known and researched of the curcuminoids. The lessor known ones include demethoxycurcumin and bidemethoxycurcumin.
There are also a variety of volatile oils such as tumerone, atlantone and zingiberone with healthful effects.
You know our policy here at Lost Empire Herbs. We like to use the whole suite of constituents available in a plant, not just isolate a single one off like you’re find with many curcumin supplements.
With our spagyric tincture you’re getting more of everything in the root than you’ll find in just about anything else.
Our Turmeric Tincture is So Yellow It’s Red!
This is a very concentrated extract of Turmeric. Working with the roots my hands were stained yellow-orange despite washing for several days afterwards.
What was interesting was working with the “salts” of Turmeric for this spagyric tincture.
“Salt,” as the most earthy part, in reality, the mineral matrix of the plant, makes the tincture more embodied…which in turn helps it to better work within your body. This is why you can often get better results with a lower dosage on a spagyric tincture vs. a regular tincture.
In dissolving these, the color was darker and richer than any I’d worked with before.
And once crystalized and added to the tincture, it seemed to darken that too.
There’s so much yellow here that it comes across red! I’m not sure how that all works, just that it is very cool.
Don’t forget. In addition to the inflammation-fighting properties, deep colors like this mean high antioxidant potential. And that’s what gives us the ability to fight of those reactive oxygen species.
Absorption, Staining, and Dosage
Science points to the lack of digestive absorption of curcumin. This can be help with the addition of piperine, through liposomal methods, etc.
It also likely enters your bloodstream more directly through this tincture when you hold it under your tongue. I haven’t seen research to verify this but that’s the idea of sublingual absorption.
Surprisingly, this tincture does not appear to stain the mouth much at all! This may be a clue at just how well the turmeric and curcumin it contains absorbs into the mucous membranes.
It will stain the skin yellowish, but appears to absorb through that as well.
The recommended dosage is one full squirt done once per day.
This comes in a one-fluid-ounce bottle, so there are about 40 full squirts per bottle. At the recommended dose a bottle will last about 40 days.
This dose is just a starting point. You can modify the dose up or down as you best see fit.
Quality and Processing
Our Turmeric is sourced from India. It is USDA certified organic. The average curcumin content of turmeric is approximately 3% by weight.
This was tinctured for over six weeks in a menstruum made with:
- Organic Cane Alcohol 40% ABV
- Filtered Fresh Spring Water
After pressing the ingredients stems, they’re calcined and ground down into a fine, then further extracted with distilled water and a gentle evaporation process until crystals are formed. These purified “salts” are added back into the tincture to finish the process.
We hope you enjoy and greatly benefit from our Turmeric Spagyric Tincture.
