12 Year Old American Ginseng Roots
12 Year Macallan Scotch
A Unique, Strong, Spagyric Tincture
Ginseng goes well with whiskey…
This is something I found in an experiment years back. Since then I’ve recreated it a few times, including when I put together the How to Make Herbal Tinctures article.
But with this batch, of which a limited amount is available under Logan’s Private Reserve, it’s been kicked up another notch.
Ginseng Becomes Immortal at the 12 Year Mark
Everyone has heard of ginseng… But, unfortunately, most of the stuff sold on the market is crap.
If ginseng is under 3 years of age it is considered immature. It’s like an unbalanced stimulant. This is what you’ll find in places like 7-11.
Between 3 and 11 years is decent. It’s mature. But the good stuff is even older. Once ginseng has hit the 12-year mark it will not be taken out by pests, by environmental conditions, by anything short of being completely uprooted.
Around that age something gets activated, that younger roots do not have. From then on, ginseng can go on for hundreds of years.
This is made with American Ginseng which is revered more than Chinese Ginseng because it has more yin quality to it. This means it is more balancing than its Oriental counterpart.
I’m not going to take the time to go through all the details about ginseng. Suffice to say it’s considered an adaptogen, something that restores health and vitality in a potent way.*
Macallan 12 Year Old Scotch & American Ginseng Root
I actually started up this batch after talking to an acquaintance of mine. He tried the previous batch and liked it.
Then he said his favorite scotch was Macallan so I started with that. The intention wasn’t even do use 12 year scotch and 12 year roots, but I realized that after the fact.
Ginseng Whiskey Spagyric Tincture Preparation
After the roots were soaked for about a month and the tincture pressed off, the roots were then calcined for their mineral salts.
These were then added back into the mix to make this a spagyric tincture. Very few ginseng products you’ll find anywhere are prepared in this way.
The Taste and the Feel… Smooth
That unique, sharp ginseng taste comes through in a strong way. Behind it you can taste the smooth scotch.
I personally find this ginseng to be energizing even at low dosages. While you can take a full dropper, I tend to take ½ to ¼ at a time.
Great for whenever you need a pick me up.
Extremely Limited Supply!
This comes to you in half ounce bottles. Note that these are smaller than our normal 2 ounce, or even 1 ounce bottles of our other tinctures.
Because of ginseng’s reputation, the high-quality stuff comes at a high price. Macallan ain’t cheap either. One pound of roots was used in less than 2 fifths of scotch.
As such we only have 33 bottles for sale at $80 apiece.
