Special Private Reserve Spagyric Tincture Two Varieties Available
4-Year-Old or 10-15-Year-Old American Ginseng Roots
Almost everyone has heard of ginseng, but unfortunately, most of the stuff sold on the market is crap.
Ginseng is a slow-growing plant that needs a few years to mature and develop its medicinal properties.
For example, American ginseng (Panax quinquefolius), which I used to create this tincture, is typically harvested around year 3. The age of the root is one factor that determines its quality and market value.
The botanical genus name Panax means “all-healing” in Greek. It shares the same origin as the word “panacea”.
If ginseng is under 3 years of age, it is considered immature and shouldn’t be used. It’s like an unbalanced stimulant; you’ll find this in places like 7-11 or GNC.

Ginseng Fights Fatigue*
As one systematic review put it, “Ginseng is a promising treatment for fatigue. American and Asian ginseng may be viable treatments for fatigue in people with chronic illness.”* 1
Some studies have specifically looked at Ginseng’s abilities in fighting fatigue related to cancer and cancer treatment.* 2
One study in nematodes (C. elegans) found Ginseng extracts extended lifespan by 14.02% while also increasing “healthspan by promoting anti-oxidation and maintaining mitochondrial homeostasis.”* 7
Some people may find American Ginseng stimulating. If that is the case, do not use it before bedtime.
Ginseng is Costly
Because quality Ginseng takes years to mature, the good stuff costs more than many other plants, such as Ashwagandha an annual plant whose roots carry the medicinal benefits within one year. Its popularity and desire have also further increased the demand and the price.
That being said, there is a reason that Ginseng has earned its worldly reputation and has been used to support health for thousands of years.
Legends say that Ginseng becomes immortal when it reaches the early teen years. That is it cannot be taken out by outside influences short of being uprooted completely.
The American Ginseng roots, for both variations, used to make these Spagyric Tinctures are sourced from Eastern USA. Both are cultivated and not wild.
For the 4 Year Old Spagyric Tincture
We recommend ½ a dropper daily as a starting point, building up to 1 dropper a day.
This comes in a one-fluid-ounce bottle, so there are about 40 droppers per bottle. At the recommended dose, a bottle will last 40 days. Of course, you can modify the dose up or down as you best see fit.
For the 10-15 Year Old Spagyric Tincture
Or on the higher end we now have a half-ounce bottle of 10-15 year old roots, also prepared as a Spagyric Tincture. The cost for this is $250.
We recommend ½ a dropper daily as a starting point. You can choose to go higher than this if you like. This one comes in a half ounce bottle, so there are about 40 x 0.5mL doses.
If there is enough interest in our 10-15 year old American Ginseng, we may put out a 20+ or 30+ year variation in the future, which would of course be even more expensive.
Quality and Processing
The American Ginseng used to make these Spagyric tinctures is sourced from Eastern USA.
American Ginseng is more prized than it’s Chinese counterpart because of its Yin promoting abilities while that latter is more Yang. It is more calming to the CNS, rather than stimulating. (We’re also working on increasing the amount of herbal supply we get from within the USA.)
The dried roots at least four years old in one case or at least ten years old but no more than fifteen in the other. They were tinctured for over a month in a menstruum made with:
- Organic Cane Alcohol 30-40% ABV
- Filtered Fresh Spring Water
After pressing the roots, they’re calcined and ground down into a fine white ash, then further extracted with distilled water and a gentle evaporation process until crystals are formed. These purified “salts” are added back into the tincture to finish the process.
The 10-15-year-old ginseng was also water extracted, and some experimental energetic methods were used in the creation of it.
Why Spagyrics?
As I dove deeper into herbalism, I learned about the REAL art of alchemy (not turning lead to gold, what most people think it’s about) specifically the spagyric arts with herbal plant material.
The idea behind a spagyric tincture is that the “salt” is added back in, which normal tinctures completely lack, just having the “mercury” and “sulfur” compounds. (Please note these are the philosophical elements, not to be confused with the chemicals by the same name. I’m trying to explain this in a way that doesn’t take an hour or more of training!)
“Salt,” as the most earthy part, in reality, the mineral matrix of the plant, makes the tincture more embodied…which in turn helps it to better work within your body. This is why you can often get better results with a lower dosage on a spagyric tincture vs. a regular tincture.
You won’t find these alchemical steps done with most tinctures on the market, especially ginsengs.
