Introducing Logan’s Private Reserve…
With what could be the Rarest Mushroom on the Planet…
Wild Agarikon Mushroom (Laricifomes officinalis)
When I bought my new home, I went hiking in the nearby forest. Something caught my eye off in the distance away from the trail. I made my way through deep brush and fallen trees to take a closer look.
And this is what I saw…
I sent the picture to some mushroom experts that I knew, and they confirmed that this was indeed Agarikon. I didn’t know that Agarikon even grew in Santa Cruz.
What’s special about this mushroom is its rarity. It only grows on old growth trees, of which there are few left in the world. In this case, it was found on a Douglas Fir.
The age can be counted in its rings, just like a tree, and one of those mycologists estimated this one’s age at 35 years.
My intuition told me it was a house-warming gift from nature.
What Does Agarikon Mushroom Do?
Because of its rarity, there is not a lot of science on this one.
People ask me what it’s for and I say that’s a good question.
What I notice is that because of the strong bitterness, there is a nervine relaxant quality to it. Several people have reported more intense, vivid dreams when taking it before bed.
Due to the yellow color and staining nature of it when processing it, my estimate is that it has some strong liver action, though I can’t say for sure what that is.
As a medicinal mushroom, it surely has some strong immune system benefits and indeed, that is mostly what we see in the historical record.
In MycoMedicinals Paul Statmets says of Agarikon in Polish use, “known for centuries as an ‘elixirium ad longam vitam”: the elixir of long life.
Agarikon’s known active constituents include:
· Beta glucans
· Extracellular antibiotics
On this last compound group, lots of the other historical uses include illnesses that we now know come from bacterial and viral sources, such as tuberculosis, smallpox, infected wounds and more.
There are also many unique compounds including agaricin, agaricic, agaricolic, agaric acid and agaricol.
A Spiritual Mushroom
It may be best used as a spiritual herb.
In The Fungal Pharmacy, Robert Rogers writes, “Native tribes of the British Columbia coast carved spiritual figures from large, perennial F. officinalis polypores. They believed the conks possessed supernatural powers that could be increased through the shaman’s arts.”
Private Reserve Triple Extract
Because of the rarity (we have less than 300 bottles and this is most likely the only time it will ever be offered) and the price, this is more of a connoisseur’s purchase.
This is the first in what will be a series of one-time products in my Private Reserve, as each one is handcrafted by me.
I call it a triple extract mushroom as it is:
· Alcohol Extracted
· Hot Water Extracted
· Spagyric Extraction through Calcination of the “Salts”
*Note that these are one-ounce bottles, which is half the size of our regular tinctures.
However, the dose is much smaller. This is a very potent mushroom.
The recommended dose is 1 to 5 drops. And this can be done several times per day.
This and future Private Reserve will only be available to VIP members.
The cost is a flat fee of $100 (free shipping to ALL N AMERICAN COUNTRIES)
