Chinese medicine is one of the oldest systems of medicine in the world. Borrowing heavily from Taoism, this system has spawned acupuncture, tai chi and much more. Chinese herbalism is a strong field that is heavily practiced. While in the West we moved away from herbs, when we started creating pharmaceutical drugs, the Chinese have more strongly integrated the two. They’ve more heavily researched what their herbs can do, to back up the historical claims.
There are multiple models within Chinese medicine that can help to determine which herbs are right for you. The “Three Treasures,” Jing, Qi, and Shen show which areas of function these superior herbs help work on. You can find detailed articles about each one of these on our site. The Five Elements is another important model. And then you have the foundational yin and yang.
As Chinese herbalism was the first place we started learning about, you’ll find we have mostly Chinese herbs here. From ant extract to cistanche, cordyceps to reishi, dong quai to he shou wu, horny goat weed to pine pollen, and many more, they’re available here at Lost Empire Herbs.
Many of these Chinese herbs come from China. Duh! And while China has a horrible reputation for its products and pollution, the fact is it is a big place. There are pristine areas and quality people and companies and we’ve sought out the best we can find. Trust…but check. So, we also independently test every herb to verify it is what it is stated to be and clean from heavy metals and bacteria.
