As we begin this comparison, you’ll notice that we have an Ashwagandha tincture but a Maca powder. Which you choose and how you use these herbs is going to depend on what you’re trying to achieve and what works best for you.
Ashwagandha
Ashwagandha’s main benefit is lowering stress in the body. Or to be more precise, it allows you to handle stress much better.
As it does so, it lowers cortisol levels. Cortisol is the main stress hormone in the body.
What happens when cortisol is regulated?
Good things like freeing up testosterone. Men will especially appreciate this and women will also benefit from more freely-available beneficial hormones as well.

Additionally, cortisol really robs the body of the use of the sex hormones and so lowering cortisol can bring benefits in the bedroom for both men and women.
Ashwagandha can also have benefits for sleep.
It can help with supporting the thyroid hormone.
It really works system-wide in the body!
I personally like our Ashwagandha spagyric tincture because it’s so convenient and easy to take!
Maca
The two main things Maca is known for is helping with energy and libido.
While it has a reputation for helping with testosterone and the sex hormones, science tells us that it’s not actually working in that way.
Uniquely, it enhances energy and libido independent of those hormones.
You can safely take large does of Maca Root extract powder. In fact, many users report not really feeling the effects of the root until they reach a daily dosage of as much as 1 tablespoon per day.
A small percentage of users report being extremely sensitive to maca. They can take just a small amount and really feel a lot of energy from it. If that’s you, you can take one of our bags and it will last you a long time.
If you’re especially looking for the enhanced sexual effects, simply adjust your dosage until you find what works for you.
I personally love maca because it tastes great. I’d describe it as a malty flavor that works very well when added to smoothies and shakes. I often add it to my coffee, as a matter of fact.
So, the effects of Maca vs. Ashwagandha are a little different and there’s no reason at all not to combine them. Having energy-stimulating effects and the stress-lowering effects together can achieve some great results.
As for cost, simple Maca Root powder from Peru is going to be much cheaper than our Ashwagandha spagyric tincture. While there are a lot of different forms of ashwagandha out there on the market, I’m extremely proud of our tincture. The ashwagandha is grown and biodynamically farmed in the USA (Oregon) and spagyrically prepared. A lot of amazing work goes into making our tincture available to you.
So, get the Ashwagandha and lower your stress and get the maca to support your energy in different ways. They both taste good in my opinion and they can both support your health goals in fantastic ways.
Lastly, we have a lot more information on our site about the science behind these herbs, the details of how they work in the body, information about our independent lab testing and results, countless customer reviews, and more. Hi, for someone with adrenal exhaustion with low cortisol in the morning which would you say is better for me? Or should i try both together? Thank you
Logan Christopher says
I’d say give both a try at once and see how it works for you. More likely to get results from one, the other or both in doing so. More details on this at https://lostempireherbs.com/experimenting-with-herbs/

I was diagnosed with hormonal imbalance back in late September 2020. I started with Ashwagandha and then valerian root. I decided to try Maca root. So far, I am not sure if Maca is positively affecting me, but both Ashwagandha and Valerian root have shown positive signs. For one, my heart rate has not gone beyond 130. With the hormonal imbalance, I had a confirmed heart attack above 170bpm.

Thanks for sharing. Glad you’re having results with some of the herbs.

What can I take to sleep all night

Of these two ashwagandha is the better bet, many people reporting it helps them sleep. Maca, on the other hand, can be energizing to some so it would not be recommended before bedtime.
