Whether you’re suffering from memory loss, or simply get distracted a lot, these herbs can help you address the problem. We are harnessing nature’s power to bring you some natural remedies that boost your brain power.
1. Ginkgo Leaf
Known as one of the oldest living species of trees, it has been used in Chinese medicine for a long time. For its many benefits, this herb is the most extensively studied today. It is known to improve blood circulation by thinning the blood. This allows oxygen to flow more freely into the brain.
If you want to enhance your mental performance, this herb can help give you the boost you need. It contains flavonoids and terpenoids that neutralize free radicals, preventing damage caused by them.
Often taken as a supplement, ginkgo leaves have been shown to help improve memory in patients with dementia.
2. Korean Ginseng

It also helps eliminate headaches and insomnia, leading to improved concentration. What’s great about this herb is that it is very widespread, and you’ll find plenty of organic teas containing it.
3. Maca
Extremely high in antioxidants, this Peruvian root easily nabs a spot on this list for improving cognitive functions. Maca has an indirect relationship with the mind, as it provides energy to the body, thereby allowing the brain to focus on tasks more easily.
The recommended intake of maca root powder is 2,000 mg or 1 teaspoon per day.
4. Dragon’s Blood
Way more uncommon compared to Korean ginseng, Dragon’s blood isn’t any less effective. It is known for treating tuberculosis, wounds, and sore throats. But did you know that this plant’s blood-red sap is also used for protecting the brain from memory loss?
The sap has a unique chemical structure that contains antioxidants and alkaloids that fight enzymes that break down vital compounds utilized by the brain. By stopping these enzymes, this herb decreases the risk of Alzheimer’s and dementia. The recommended daily dose is only ½ oz, so keep that in mind if you want to make use of this herb’s benefits.
5. Sage
This next herb does not turn you into an actual sage, as cool as that may be. But if you want to enhance your ability to recall important facts, it’s definitely good for you. Studies show that certain chemicals found in sage help with slowing down the depletion of neurons. By protecting these cholinergic and noncholinergic neurons, it keeps you from having a build-up of so-called “amyloid plaques” that are one of the causes of Alzheimer’s.
Though it’s not true that sage causes immortality, it still provides you with the protection your mind needs to remember a life well lived.

7. Barley Grass
One of the more familiar herbs on this list is barley grass. It is well-known for its share of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, amino acids, and enzymes. This herb supports all aspects of health and well-being, including your mental health. So if you feel like grabbing an all-in-one supplement, barley grass isn’t such a bad idea.

V Peterman says
Because this contains barley grass, I cannot take it.
Zane Christopher says
This is not a formula, just an article recommending any of these 8 items to boost the mind.
