10 Herb Treatments For Perfect Skin

December 2, 2016 by Mike Jones 2 Comments

Nowadays, there’s no longer one single perfect body type. Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. Hair can be long or short, dyed or natural. But one thing that will never go out of style is a healthy, glowing appearance, that’s bursting with energy. And the best thing to start with is your skin.

Anyone who had to struggle with the skin issues that came along with puberty and those tedious teenage years knows just how frustrating it is to look into the mirror. And it’s not just teenagers who have to deal with all those nagging little things that affect their skin. Adults can have it just as tough.

Companies offering self-care products have tried to keep up with the demand, and have worked tirelessly to develop new products meant to deal with these skin issues. But these products are often too aggressive, or falsely advertised. More often than not, the best ones rely on natural ingredients to do the job. So why not just skip the middle man, and go straight to the source, with these natural skin remedies?

#1 Antioxidant Fruit Salad for Skin

Many skin problems are caused by a lack of essential vitamins and minerals, which means the first thing you’ll want to do is provide your whole body with the resources it needs. Start your day off with this deliciously refreshing fruit salad, packed with vitamins and antioxidants. The ingredients give you with a boost of energy, and contain some of the vitamins that are vital for your skin. Plus, they’ll keep your skin hydrated, thus maintaining its elasticity.

Ingredients: 1/2 cup fresh blueberries, 1/2 cup fresh strawberries, 1 kiwi peeled and chopped, 1/2 cup pomegranate seeds, 1/2 cup organic orange juice, 1 handful of chopped walnuts.

#2 Chamomile Tea for Skin

Chamomile has achieved quite a reputation for its soothing properties. Chamomile has been shown to work wonders on eczema, due to its mild anti-inflammatory properties. Having soothing effects, and mild active components, chamomile can be used by people with very sensitive skin. You can use the hot chamomile tea as a steam facial, before letting it cool down, and applying the infusion to your skin. That way, you can get the equivalent of a day at the spa in just a few minutes, with a single cup of tea!

#3 Aloe Vera for Skin

The substances found in its leaf contain a relatively strong antibacterial component, therefore Aloe Vera can be used quite successfully against acne. Like chamomile, this is a plant that’s renowned for its soothing properties and its numerous benefic ingredients that make it the perfect remedy for a variety of skin issues, and other, more serious problems, such as minor burns or scars.

#4 Basil Toner for Skin

One of the most common skin issues is acne. Most of us have probably had to deal with at one point or another. Acne is caused by clogged pores, which subsequently become inflamed. They’re like very minor infections. When it comes to dealing with acne effectively, basil is one of the best herbal choices for it. Basil has antiseptic properties that can eliminate the principal cause of acne. Basil is also rich in vitamin A, K and C. The easiest way to use basil on your skin is by preparing an infusion. All you need to do is crush some dried basil leaves, toss them in boiling water, allow the liquid to cool down, and then spray it on your skin.

#5 Rice-Lemon-Agave Nectar Mix for Skin

Our faces aren’t the only ones affected by skin issues. Our hands are also affected. Because they are so exposed, they deserve the same care and attention as our complexion. This mix containing rice, lemon and agave fruit works first by exfoliating the skin, for a softer, brighter look. The lemon and agave nectar hydrate the skin, and soften the darker tones of brown spots.

#6 Lemongrass Infusion for Skin

Lemongrass is often included in recipes for remedies aimed at people who have to deal with oily skin. Its astringent properties help close pores, and reduce the oiliness of the skin. The best, and easiest method of using lemongrass is by adding it to a pot of boiling water, and soaking it in the vapors. The steam will be opening up your pores, and unclogging them. This will make the lemongrass much more efficient. Its astringent properties will then work to close up the pores, and reduce that unaesthetic shine.

#7 Almond-Sugar Facial Scrub for Skin

If you’re just looking to enhance the appearance of your skin, and maintain a healthy glow every day, scrubbing is a good start. This mix containing sugar and almonds can help you get rid of dead skin cells. Almond milk is often used as a natural alternative for skin whitening products. It contains a healthy dose of vitamin E, thus providing your skin with the nourishment it needs. You can add a bit of olive oil, for maximum hydration. All you need to do is to mix together all of the ingredients and apply them in circular motion, gently massaging the mixture in, for a couple of minutes.

Ingredients: 3 tablespoons of fresh cream, 1 cup of white sugar, 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 cup of ground almonds, 2 tablespoons olive oil.

#8 Lavender Essential Oil for Skin

Just like chamomile, lavender has long been known to possess numerous curative properties. Its soothing effect makes it a great remedy for a variety of skin problems, such as acne, eczema, insect bites, burns. Some studies suggest it is even moderately efficient at dealing with excessive hair loss in men, and hirsutism in women. Plus, the fragrance can help relieve stress, and insomnia, two very important factors which can affect the skin.

#9 Nettle Tea for Skin

Nettle grows in numerous countries, having a grand total of over 500 subspecies. Most people know it just as a common weed and are not aware of the medical properties it possesses. Its leaves contain copious amounts of vital substances, including calcium, magnesium, and other minerals that are absolutely essential for a youthful and healthy looking skin. It’s also an excellent astringent, being able to reduce excessive oiliness and maintain the skin clean, and healthy.

#10 Burdock Root Infusion for Skin

An herb native to Northern Asia and Europe, that also grows in North America, burdock is also easily brushed aside as nothing more than a simple weed. What many don’t know is that this herb is rich in antioxidants. Even though it has been used for its medicinal properties for ages, the scientific community has only recently started looking more in-depth at its healing features. It can be used to ease the symptoms of numerous ailments. As a skincare treatment, burdock root infusion can be used against excessive dryness, psoriasis, and acne.

Skin problems can be really annoying, and cosmetic products don’t always work and sometimes can worsen the problems. Thankfully, there are plenty of methods that can help us slowly improve our skin’s health and appearance. Because there are little to no side-effects to using natural remedies, you can experiment to your heart’s content, until you find the treatment that works for you.
